Some people think quotes are cheesy, but I’m a huge fan. I think they are like art, the understanding and appreciation are different for everyone, based on their experiences and knowledge. We can all look at a painting and (in most cases) kind of see what’s on the canvas, but the message of the painting will be different for most individuals. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I feel like quotes are the same way. I have a poster on my wall that says:

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

Everyone understands what it says, but not everyone understands what it truly means. Again, there’s no right answer — it’s just based on each individual's past experiences.

Nothing changes if nothing changes

I recently stumbled upon this quote, and I love it! It’s short & clingy and sounds pretty cool. And the meaning, to me, is pretty powerful.

We all want to be X or have Y, but we’re not willing to do Z in order to be or get them. We don’t want to give up what we’re doing and step outside our comfort zone in order to achieve it.

Want to be fit? It’s not going to happen if you don’t start working out. And it won’t happen if you don’t stop eating like garbage.

Want to be better at small talking with strangers? It’s not going to happen if you don’t start being uncomfortable and actually start doing it. Start small, like complimenting someone's outfit. Do it multiple times every day, and before you know it you’re a natural.

Want to start a new hobby or business, but “don’t have time”. Evaluate where you’re currently putting your time, and realize that you can’t have 4 hour screen time and watch Netflix 2 hours every day if you want to do this.

…and remember…

Nothing changes if nothing changes.
