I feel like meal prepping is still seen as something mostly gym bros and broettes do. Meal prepping has changed my life. The list of benefits is probably endless, but I will list the five things that have been the most beneficial for me.

Save money

I (almost) never buy food for just one meal, I always buy as big packs as possible. The bigger packs you buy, the cheaper it will be.

Also, the combination of not needing to go to the grocery store that often as well as having a list of the things I need means that I don’t make as many impulsive purchases. If I would do the shopping every day after work or after a workout, I would spend a lot more on snacks and other “unnecessary” things.

Save time

When I meal prep, I cook 1-2 times a week. I usually try to prep as much as possible during the weekend when I have more free time. It takes me a little longer to cook those times, but compared to cooking every day I save a lot of time.

I also save time grocery shopping, as I know what I need to buy and only need to do the shopping 1–2 times a week.

Save energy

Because I have the meals ready, I don’t have to spend energy on figuring out what to cook twice a day. A lot of small things like that pile up and will take up a lot of your energy and brainpower. With meal prepping, it’s one thing less to think about.

The body can handle it

This probably won’t resonate with a lot of people, but it’s important for me. Because I train 2 times per day most days, it feels good to know that my body can handle what I eat. Meaning that I don’t have to end or pause a workout to find a bathroom. I have about 6 different meals that I usually prep, and I know that all of them will fuel me well and I won’t get any stomach issues.

Enough nutrients

As mentioned, I have about 6 favorite meals I usually prep. At some point, I have tracked the macronutrients for those meals, so I know that I consume enough without having to track every day. And for days I know I need to consume more, it’s easy to add the right things.
